Last night, JW & I went to a special prescreening of the upcoming movie, War Room, coming out August 28. It is the latest film from the Kendick brothers, the same guys who made Facing the Giants, Courageous, & Fireproof.
I left the theatre saying there were no words to describe this movie. What does one say when watching a film that could be a biopic of your own life? The film depicts a woman learning to fight for her marriage & family through prayer. God changes her, then He changes her family. I cried and cried, because I know God fights for us…we just have to let Him. Even now, when problems arise in my family, I know it’s because I haven’t prayed enough. I’ve been reading Stormie Omartian’s book, Power of a Praying Parent. She says that if we’re not covering our kids with prayer, we’re leaving their lives to chance. I agree. That thought is true for our marriages too. That’s why marriages and families are in the state we find them: diseased & dying. We’ve got to get in our war rooms and fight for our families…God’s way!
Exodus 14:14 (NIV) The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
If you want things to change in your marriage, don’t take it to your spouse. Take it to God. Don’t fight your spouse. He/She is NOT the enemy. Fight Satan, the REAL enemy.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (KJV) For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds
Please go see this movie on opening weekend. It’s vital to keep more of these messages of truth coming out. And we need these truths. Our marriages need it. Our families need it. Our nation desperately needs it.
