Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
You must believe that Jesus is the sinless Son of God, and that he died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins.
Romans 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
You must repent of your sins. It is God’s grace that leads us to repentance.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
All of us have sinned, not one of us is perfect, except Jesus Christ who is the Son of God.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
It took the sinless sacrifice of Jesus to wipe out our transgressions.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Because our God is holy, our sin separates us from Him forever, unless we accept, believe, and confess Christ’s sacrifice for us.
Romans 10:9-10, 13 if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. … For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Salvation is promised to us if we call on the name of the Lord.
Call on Him now, pray this prayer:
Holy God, I acknowledge that You are God and I need You. I confess that I am a sinner against You and Your word. I need Your forgiveness and believe that Jesus is Your Son and died for my sins. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit, be Lord of my life, and lead me into Your truth through Your word. Jesus, change my life and lead me away from my sins. Thank You for mercy and grace to forgive me and give me hope for eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In November of 1992, a “line was drawn in the sand” so to speak, in my life. At the age of 32, I prayed a prayer similar to this one that you wrote in this entry. An Art teacher at Elizabeth City State University, led me to this moment of asking Jesus to forgive me of my sins and asking Him to come in to rule and reign in my life. That day my life changed forever. The peace of God flooded my mind as The Prince of Peace became real to me that day. I also somehow knew, (although I had not opened the Bible at that point), that life here on this earth was not all there was to our exsistance, but there is eternal life with God in heaven, and that was for the first time in my life, an exciting thought! So much has taken place since that day almost 23 years ago. Many trials have deepened my faith. God has never let me down, and I am certain He never will. That doesn’t mean things will be easy. N But, He is worth it, and worthy of all my thanks and praise.
That’s a valid point that I’m glad you brought up, Maureen. Life isn’t any easier for the Christian. Trials come to test us and refine us. It’s in those times we hide in the shelter of His wings as He makes us look more like Jesus!

Your faith is indeed great.
